Rümi Virtual Home Checkup

Meet your newest, awesomest virtual neighbour!

A happy home is a safe, well-maintained home without any unexpected surprises to ruin your day.  And we’re all about happy, stress-free homes. We want to help you turn your home into a stress-free sanctuary.

As our high school coach used to say, “You don’t know what you don’t know.” So true, Coach. Home repairs can sneak up and surprise you — but not if you see them coming. A Rümi Virtual Home Checkup is a great start in helping you maintain some of the potential stress areas in your home.

Take a Rümi home advisor on a virtual tour of your home and find out what you don’t know. A certified home inspector will identify and assess common problem areas, answer your questions, and help take the guess work out of home maintenance. Together, we’ll take a look at:

  • Your kitchen including hard working appliances like your fridge, dishwasher and exhaust fan.
  • The mechanical room including the furnace filter, humidifier and hot water tank.
  • CO2 monitors, smoke detectors and washer/dryer vents

What to expect

Our friendly certified home inspector will connect with you for a video call on your smart mobile device. At your scheduled time, you’ll get a text message on your smart mobile device with a link to your appointment. Click the link, meet your Rümi advisor, and together you’ll walk through a checklist of potential problems in your kitchen and mechanical rooms.

FAQs

  • How does the virtual checkup work?

This 30-minute call will help you identify trouble spots, reduce unexpected costs down the road, and even give you the confidence to tackle some DIY - if you’re into that kind of thing.

We’ll follow up with a link to your home assessment video and helpful tips, recommendations and referrals if necessary.

  • What if I have more questions after the 30 minute call?

The initial Rümi Virtual Home Checkup is scheduled for 30 minutes. You’re encouraged to ask questions as we go along, but we do want to focus on the common issues checklist. If you have questions that will take more time and attention, you can book a follow up appointment, and we’ll be happy to dedicate more time to any specific issues that come up. We’ll send you a discount code for future use following your first call.

  • What video calling service do you use?

We use ICwhatUC, a service our friends at ATCO Gas have been using for a while to help diagnose issues, solve problems and share insights.

  • How does the platform work?

ICwhatUC connects a Rümi advisor with you and your smart phone. Our certified home inspector sees what you see to provide a remote diagnosis without a physical appointment.

  • Can I use my tablet for the video call?

Sorry, unfortunately, we can only connect using a smart mobile device.

  • What if I can’t see or hear you during my appointment?

Before your appointment begins, please make sure we can connect with your phone’s camera and microphone. Check your phone’s settings to make sure you’ve allowed access to both the camera and microphone.

  • Who has access to my video and where is it stored?

ICwhatUC is built on the AWS architecture, and data is maintained in Canadian data centres. Rümi has its own password protected workspace, with only our customer videos in it.

  • Is data shared with other parties?

Only authorized Rümi advisors have access to any of our recorded ICwhatUC videos. ICwhatUC support staff can also review videos, but only on request.

  • Does the platform use encryption?

ICwhatUC uses AWS and the built-in EC2 Management Console to manage information flow between local machines, customer workspaces, and the ICwhatUC master application. AWS Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) - also known as Secure Shell (SSH) File Transfer Protocol is used.

  • Is my location shared?

The short answer is: not in any way that will identify you or your home.

The long, detailed answer the lawyers wrote is: ICwhatUC will not share the data or metadata with other parties or clients without the written consent of our clients. ICwhatUC has the right to collect and analyze data and other information relating to the use and performance of ICwhatUC. ICwhatUC may use such information and data to improve and enhance the Services and for other development, diagnostic and corrective action purposes. ICwhatUC may disclose such data, however, it will do so solely in aggregated and de-identified form sufficient to prevent the identification of our customers and their end-customers. Read the full ICWhatUC Privacy Policy
