Installing a new electric vehicle charger is a straightforward job — for a professional electrician. The electrician will wire your charging station to fit your home's electrical system.  

We don't recommend attempting to install your own charger. This is a job for a pro with experience in EV installs, not a DIY.

Charging times vary based on your charger's power level and your EV's battery capacity. With a Level 2 charger, you can typically get a full charge overnight.

Since you'll be using more electricity, your energy bill will increase when you start charging your car. However, many EV drivers find that the cost of charging at home is still lower than refueling at gas stations. The impact on your electricity bill also depends on your usage and local rates.

It's worth discussing with your landlord or property manager. Some solutions, like shared charging stations in apartment complexes, are becoming more common.

Level 2 chargers typically require a 240-volt outlet, similar to those used for clothes dryers. Electricians can assess your home's electrical setup to ensure compatibility.

EV batteries are made from Lithium-ion, like smartphones, laptops and most rechargeable household electronics. And they’re 90% recyclable!

Most charging stations are quite compact. All you need is a flat, hard surface with space for the following dimensions:

• Width: 7.62 in / 193 mm  
• Height: 17 in / 432 mm  
• Length: 6.9 in / 175 mm  

When installing your station, keep in mind the distance to your electrical box. Consider how you'd normally go about parking your car and make sure there will be enough room.

Of course! Most EV chargers can handle temperatures ranging from -40°C to 50°C. The casings are resistant to corrosion, dust, rain, snow, sleet and ice. You can even hose them down while cleaning!

Generally, no! Once your station is installed, all you need to do is roll up and plug in.

While it's technically possible to uninstall and move a charger, it's more practical to leave your EV charger behind.

Some chargers offer the flexibility to charge multiple vehicles. Discuss your needs with the installer to find a suitable setup.
