Pricing

Replacing your roof might cost less than you think. But before we can give you a quote, we need to look at what's happening up there. Our team will give you a comprehensive and firm quote before we start working, so there won't be any surprises.

Since every project is unique, our pricing is all estimate-based. Don’t worry about receiving a surprise bill though. We’ll go over the cost of the entire project with you before the work begins.

What to Expect

  • You can expect the best. The highest standards, quality materials designed for Canadian weather, and Rümi's lifetime workmanship warranty.
  • We'll learn more about you and your roof so we can assign the right professional to your project.
  • We'll visit your home to see your roof in person. We don't base quotes off satellite imagery. That’s a sure way to miss vital details.
  • We consider all aspects of your project before making a final recommendation.
  • You'll receive a free quote with a firm price and complete breakdown of all work. We are happy to go over the quote in detail with you.
  • Remember, we never rely on bargain-basement materials or workmanship. The lowest quote you get from another roofer won't always the best choice for your home.
  • If you choose our service, we'll send you a contract to sign and work can begin on the agreed-upon date.
  • Our team will contact you before any materials are due to arrive, so you can organize your property and be prepared for people arriving.

  • Even after the project is done, we're still responsive and here to help with any quality control issues.

Can I delay replacing my roof?

Plus icon - black

Your roof is your defender against the elements. In Alberta, that means icy hail, scorching heat, sudden storms... and everything in between. An aging or damaged roof puts you at risk of leaks, structural issues and sudden repairs. If it’s time to replace your roof, don’t delay!

We understand that replacing your roof is a major project that might require more planning. We can help with repairs or temporary solutions until you are ready to replace your roof.

Are roofing materials covered by warranty?

Plus icon - black

Yes! We only use high-quality materials, which are covered under warranty for 30–50 years. We’ll go over the full scope of work and warranty before we begin the roof replacement.

What materials are commonly used for roof replacements?

Plus icon - black

The most common material used for roofing is asphalt shingles. Rümi uses the highest quality materials and matches them to your roof complexity and layout. The final product is a roof you can depend on for decades to come.

Materials we work with:

  • Asphalt shingles. The most common sloped roofing application. Asphalt shingles typically come as laminated architectural shingles made with fibreglass and SBS.
Older shingles used to have an organic paper felt mat that was soaked in asphalt. As the organic shingles aged, the shingles would begin to curl at the corners and edges, create loose granules and even crack. Newer materials prevent that from happening.
  • Cedar shakes and shingles. A classic sloped roofing application that provides a rustic look that ages well. If your cedar shingles are splitting, cupping or becoming loose, it may be time to replace or service them.
  • Concrete tiles. Concrete roof tile adds a unique look to your home and provides excellent protection against the elements. With the emergence of lightweight synthetic alternatives to concrete tile roofing, you now have even more options to get that finished tile look at an easier price point.
  • Architectural shingles. Architectural shingles appeal to design-conscious consumers, yet they come in at a lower price point than shakes or tiles. The lifespan shingles in this category usually range from 30–50 years.
  • Metal roofing. Metal roofs last a long time and create an excellent barrier against Alberta’s snow and ice. But when you see signs of rust, loose fasteners, leaks and breaking seals around penetrations, it’s time to replace or service your metal roof.
Often, metal roofs can be fixed with re-ply roofing products instead of replacing the metal itself, even if parts are rusty. We also install and service copper roofing, granulated steel roofing   panels and more.
  • Flat roofing. Flat roofing must be able to hold snow and water for long durations of time and then drain this moisture through a positive drainage system. If it isn’t installed correctly, you roof can leak or break down prematurely. That’s why it’s essential that flat roofing is installed professionally the first time.
  • Sloped roofing. We install and service all types of sloped roofing applications, such as fibreglass shingles, steel roofing panels, standing seam roofs, rubber shingles, cedar shakes and more. Regardless of the size or complexity of your project, we’re here to make sure that the job is done right from start to finish.

When should I consider a roof replacement instead of a repair?

Plus icon - black

A professionally installed roof will last anywhere from 25–50 years. If your roof is getting to the end of its lifecycle and in need of repairs, it’s probably time to replace the full roof. Other signs include:

  • Cracked, curled or damaged shingles
  • Shingles are losing a lot of shingle granules
  • Leaks
  • Sagging or drooping roof
  • Algae or moss growth on roof
  • Water damage on interior ceilings and walls
  • Hail, wind or sun damage
  • Ice damming
  • Poor quality roofing material or installation

If you’re not sure whether to replace or repair, we can help! Book a Roof Inspection by our roofing and home exterior experts. We’ll help you understand next steps. If possible, we’ll identify ways to prolong your roof’s life in the meantime.

How long does a roof replacement take?

Plus icon - black

A roof replacement generally takes anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. The time it takes depends on the size and complexity of the roof, materials used and the weather. We’ll make sure you understand the full timeline before any work starts.

What steps are involved in a roof replacement?

Plus icon - black

A roof replacement involves removing the old roofing material, repairing or replacing any damaged decking, installing underlayment and new roofing material, and finishing with new flashing and ridge caps. Our pros follow the highest possible safety standards on all jobs.

Can I replace my roof myself?

Plus icon - black

Unless you have roofing experience, we don’t recommend trying to replace your roof as a DIY. Your roof is one of the greatest home investments you’ll make. It’s important to get it done right. An incorrectly installed roof can be a safety hazard and a financial liability.

Experienced, professional roofers have the know-how to install a new roof safely and efficiently. This is one home improvement project not to take chances on.

Can leaks in a roof be repaired?

Plus icon - black

Many roof leaks can be repaired. It’s important to catch leaks early and fix them quickly to avoid further damage. If you are experiencing frequent leaks, it’s probably time to replace your roof entirely.

Our experts can help assess your roof. Book a Roof Inspection and get a complimentary quote on any repairs needed.

Do I have to move out of my home during roof construction?

Plus icon - black

A new installation can take days or weeks to complete, depending on the complexity of the project. While you don’t have to leave your home during this time, you might want to. Roofing is noisy and our pros will work all day long. If you plan on being home all day and find construction noises bothersome, you might want to find an out-of-home activity for the day.

Does my homeowner's insurance cover the price of a new roof?

Plus icon - black

The damage and specifics of your policy will determine whether or not your homeowners' insurance will pay for the cost of a new roof. In some cases, insurance will cover the cost, but check with your insurance company.

If you're covered, we're an insurance preferred contractor, so we're happy to work directly with your insurance company to make your claim as simple as possible.
